Fluxsoma (FluxesSonificationMachine) is an audiovisual instrument developed in the Master of Musical Technology under the guidance of Dr. Hugo SolĂs. The premise of the device is to generate visual phenomena for its eventual sonification. By means of peristaltic pumps that send liquids to a tank, different colors are amalgamated forming a canvas that is continuously modified. The images generated by this process are transformed into sound using a camera that uses computer vision. The interpreter of this device manages nine sliders, six of them to introduce different colors, the rest suck the flows in order to create shapes and movement in the fluids.
Fluxsoma is part of a tradition that highlights the intricate relationships between sound and image in both analog and digital environments.
