A sound installation with six mobile robots, shown at Desobediencias Robóticas (Robotic Disobediences), the 2nd International Meeting of Artistic Robotics at the Centro Multimedia of Mexico's National Centre for the Arts, organised by Nicolás Kisic Aguirre and Cristina Brambila in June 2025.
Six robots roam the floor of the Binary Art Gallery. Each reads its infrared sensors to detect walls, obstacles and visitors and changes behaviour: it wanders with organic movements, gathers in a swarm, chases another robot or returns to its dock. The robots' states are sent in real time to a synthesis system that turns them into sound —synthetic forest textures, pulses and sound masses— so the room sounds according to how the group moves and how visitors interrupt it.
Robots programmed in ROS 2 (Python), sound synthesis in SuperCollider, linked by OSC.
